The Hunded-Foot Journey is based on the novel of the same name written by Richard C. Morais. Directed by Lasse Hallström and starring Helen Mirren, Om Puri, Manish Dayal and Charlotte Le Bon, the film tells the story of the Kadam family, led by Papa (Puri) and his son Hassan (Dayal), a talented and promising chef. After tragedy strikes the family, the Kadams decide to move to a quaint village in the South of France with the plan of opening an Indian restaurant, despite the fact that only 100 feet opposite stands a Michelin starred classical French eatery. Outraged by the new arrivals, the owner Madame Mallory (Mirren) is determined to have their business shut down. As cultures clash and food flies, a heated battle escalates between the two establishments – until, that is, Hassan’s passion and talent for French cuisine begin to enchant Madame Mallory and even she cannot deny this young chef could have what it takes to garner even more acclaim for her beloved restaurant.

See this movie if you love food, appreciate culture through cuisine, are depressed or simply if you want to see a funny, feel good, laid back, well acted film with beautiful cinematography. There is a lot to relate to and the laughs come regularly. Everyone in the film is great however the veterans Om Puri and Helen Mirren are particularly good and have fun with their roles.

Hope you’re all going for it!

I like Resident Evil…I mean which self-respecting, Zombie-loving supernatural freak wouldn’t? After all, Zombies have to be better than sparkling teenybopper-loving vampires or even sillier, half-doggie-looking werewolves that run around without their shirts on. But still, even I can’t take 5 straight movies in a series that is going nowhere & a lead actress who kicks ass but can’t act. And the only thing that has changed with even movie is Milla Jovovich’s zombie-killing costume. I mean, even her stance in every shot remains the same. At least we can commend Paul W. S. Anderson for his consistency!

Resident Evil 1

Resident Evil 2

Resident Evil 3

Resident Evil 4

Resident Evil 5

So, since I don’t really want to ask which one is your favourite movie (because I fear the responses), I’ll ask you this: Which is your favourite “Alice” costume?

Since the time I was a teenager, I’ve had a soft spot for Korean (& to some extent Japanese) pop music. Don’t ask me why…I wouldn’t know what to tell you anyway, except that my mum & dad think I need to go have my head examined.

Also, although most people can’t see how each individual Korean pop/celeb idol’s features & public image are easily distinguishable, I have had my earliest crushes on certain band members whilst intensely disliking the rest. Some of my favourites are:-

From SuJu

Siwon

Sungmin

Kangin

From former DBSK now JYJ

Jaejoong

From 2AM & 2PM

Taecyeon

Jinwoon

I know that to some non-Asians most of these guys would probably look the same but trust me when I say you DON’T want to say that to one of us. Not only does each idol have his own massive fan following but they also have a huge anti-fan club as well as a secret underground gang (mostly made up of crazed & hormonal teenage girls) who will hunt you down if you so much a bat your eyelashes at the subjects of all their fantasies.

All I can say is that K-pop gave me some of the fondest memories of my teenage years &, with the Hallyu (Korean) wave, it continues to do so for millions of other teenage (& other not-so-teenaged) girls around the world. I’m an ELF & proud of it!

While the first movie may not have been as memorable as the book, I would have to admit that I’m still looking forward to the sequel based on the book ‘The Power of Six.’

Since that seems like it’ll take a little while longer to get made, I’ll just have to keep myself happy by playing this song – from the ‘I Am Number Four’ movie – on loop

There’s nothing I love more than classic cars & if they look like they can get a spy’s job done, even better! And no other movie series has showcased as many classy, mean machines as James Bond. Here are some of the most memorable :-

So, which one’s your favourite? Personally, I’d pick ’em all!
